A good friend who Keith took under his wing expressed to me how every pup he had from Smut had to be taken back to Keith to get retrieving.
I think they had varying degrees of dodgy mouths too.
cheers,
Alice.

Ah the good old days, nobody breeds spaniels like the good old fashioned type any more, isn't it such a shame… doesn't sound like it, were they are bunch of hard headed, hard mouthed, noisy buggers???! lol

 and it's usually people who were in short trousers when these dogs were running being nostalgic about something they don't have memories of.
cheers,
Alice.

Perhaps its just human nature to just think the best was in the past ;) 30 years from now the dogs running now may be thought of as the golden era animals

Myself and a friend have both picked up pups from Tony, both now around 4 months old.
No worries with them at all, We have even had a second opinion on them from a well respected trainer/handler/breeder and believe me he was very impressed with what he saw.

I will say not your typical looking Badgercourt line looking pups. Both have a small flash on their ears, mostly white with a dab of liver here and there. Oh by eek they are very very busy with a nice bit of style.

The mating was Badgercourt Sirius x Thornycourt Bessie who is out of Badgercourt Firecrest so nearly every dog in there is Badgercourt, their uncles being Ftch Badgercourt Warlord, which I will say I have never seen him so close to front in a pedigree.

Really now only we can fail these pups unless something major crops up.

Keep your eyes out for x2 Thornycourt bitches in around 2 years time ;)
Any news about these two bitches?

Hey up,

Yes that's right I had my Male at the time and he was much better, he has had 2 seconds in the 2 trials he has finished so happy I stuck with him.

The bitch was also docked shorter than I liked too. Small trivial things but an accumulation of things added up to me moving her on.

Bringing back an old thread lol!

What was the breeding lines of the dog you had that was much better?

Has anyone had any luck bringing back the old hard lines or do they still remain a fantasy?

There is some value in going back to old sires and blood if you can find the straws - and you are clear about what you want to accomplish. We went back to old stock on pointers with great results and the pups produced gave us exactly what we wanted. Luckily we had access to people who shared our quest for the dogs we wanted and we had committed people driving the research who were able to get right into the nuts and bolts of it all, with unparalleled insight. The results spoke for themselves. I am yet to see better dogs being bred for what we wanted. Anywhere.
