We have progressed from canny collar to making a figure eight with slip lead. She has accepted it and now walks to heel very nicely with no pulling, phew this has been a hard slog but we are delighted now as she is a joy to take for a walk.
Question
Does it matter which way you do the loop, clockwise or anticlockwise ?
We walk her on the left and yes we do fit the slip the correct way.

Re: figure eight slip
Doesn't really matter, Ips. Make sure that the metal ring &/or leather 'stop' are out the way behind the ear, so to speak, rather than somewhere under the dogs lower jaw where it might cause discomfort.

Re: figure eight slip
We were at Hawes last weekend there is a rope factory there. Hundreds of rope things incl hundreds of different types of dog lead. I wanted a longer than usual slip lead but thin specifically for figure eight (which is working brilliantly) theory being a thin rope will be less intrusive around the face, anyway they did not have the length of thin one but sent me down to the factory bit to see the ladies making up the leads were I explained exactly what I wanted and they made one for me there and then all for the grand total of four quid. What brilliant service is that
