Test Cricket: South Africa vs England...
Given that your lads gave us an utter pasting in Durban, I'm off to Newlands to support the South Africans and hoping they can draw the series. A stinking hot day in Cape Town, a few ice cold beverages are certainly going to go down a treat.
Should be a great test match.

Well played, SP - though not quite a "This Bud's for Dolly (Basil D'Oliveira)" moment in the pav, what-what. If you see my old mate Allan Donald out there, we're still bowing down in Brum to his pace.

Bud? No mate, we drink beer out here...
Basil D'Oliveira. That's showing your age
we've moved on somewhat
Festive crowd. Wickets are a bit scarce though. Second English wicket gone at 134. Collapse coming

I suspect it will be all over by the end of day 3, with England taking the spoils.

Not a chance. This is a great batting wicket and will hold up.beechessam wrote:I suspect it will be all over by the end of day 3, with England taking the spoils.

Great first day. I thought we had control at about 250/5 with 7 overs to go before stumps. That last flurry by Stokes was memorable! Why we took the new ball when the spinners were holding them back to some degree I can't understand. England I reckon will be the happier of the two camps. Tomorrow should be interesting. Very hot here. Beer sales are up.

That means horse p*ss ((Bud) sales are low then, SP - I agree it's 'orrible stuff. Meanwhile West Brom just snatched an added-time win from Stoke and I'd fancy snatching a Davenport's Celebration Stout meself.

It's not the batting wicket in question, it's the batsmen on it.Springfield Pointers wrote:Not a chance. This is a great batting wicket and will hold up.beechessam wrote:I suspect it will be all over by the end of day 3, with England taking the spoils.
A quick blast in the morning, enforce the follow on and wrap it up in 3, maybe 4.

Will be interesting to watch. I certainly hope you are incorrect. England certainly have their tails up, but I'd hardly belittle the South African batsmen, they are presently going through a rebuilding phase, but there is some incredible talent in their lineup. They are not the No1 ranked test team without reason.beechessam wrote:It's not the batting wicket in question, it's the batsmen on it.Springfield Pointers wrote:Not a chance.
