Best waterproof jacket?

Post by Rough_mut »

Hi All,

What jackets are you all wearing when beating? I'm after a new one, don't want to destroy the bank completely...

I tend to like smocks, ridge line and Seeland tend to stand out,

Anyone used either or can recommend something different?

Many thanks

Must say. Where I live and things are very wet, I pass all the hi-tech fabrics and go with my Burke&Wills coat. There's not much to beat it for keeping dry.

Soon to be sponsored by "weight watchers" due to the weight loss experienced by people who own one of these sweat suites!!!!!
I really like Kuiu, Berghaus Cornice and Paramo, I find the walking rather than Shooting coats are much better value.
Avoid Fortis/Country Covers as if your life depended on it, utter over priced shite!!!!

Ive recently had, Seeland, Ridgeline and they are crap......ive resorted to one from Mountain Warehouse (Extreme in olive)which was great last season in the wet weather yet its not to big to get your sweating. It was in the half price sale so down from £120 to £60 then i used a promo code and got it for £48.

I bought 4 for me n the lads and they have had no problems with it either.

This is another good un from them: http://www.mountainwarehouse.com/gable- ... x?cl=Khaki

Hi All,

Thanks for the advise, I have a couple high tech goretex stuff, fantastic for mountains but not very durable! Mine has more repair tape on it than goretex now..

Essgrouse - interested to hear why the seeland was crap?

Harkila Pro Hunter takes a lot of beating, but costs a lot too. That said mine is 6 or 7 years and going strong
