use of land

Post by claira »

hi all wondered if anyone knows of somewhere in beds/bucks area where I could have use of a private field to train my spaniel using the starter pistol. having a nightmare trying to find somewhere that isn't a public area. I have phoned a couple of farmers in my area but had no luck. thanks.

Probably going to farmers and asking nicely in person would help, I wouldn't give permission to someone I had never met. Are there any shoots locally? If yes speak to the gamekeeper he might have a rough outer area you could use, especially if it pushes his birds back home.

Other than that, cap guns, party poppers or one of those single shot things that look nothing like a gun.

Are there any clay shoots locally ??
Have a trip on a shoot day and ask them if you could have half an hour after a shoot, you could offer to help clear up for half an hour to show willing .
Muddling along in the hope that one day it starts to make sense.

Or even use the clay shoot for background gun shots but start at a good distance and work in if the dog pays no attention.
