Treating Bramble cuts around eyes

Post by hornet »

After a hard days work, my Springer has bramble cuts around his eyes.some are small bare patches, look quite sore.
What would be the best treatment to aid repair?

Surprised you have not got a response. Mine is kind of halfway - I would put a gel around the eye socket before beating - not right up against the eyes to deflect - Honey or a vegetable oil or a lanolin cream. I have more gorse than brambles so veg oil before and honey (antibacterial) after if necessary.

Ours have just been to the vets for jabs and the vet commented that Vaseline or similar as Sgurr suggests before work can help but the vet said that you can bathe with warm water afterwards to help keep it clean and aide repair and use things like E45 although I find they heal pretty quickly on their own.

Couldn't comment as mine don't often suffer with those and I just ignore them when they do! I'm told Aloe Vera is very good but not used it.
In life, it is important to know when to stop arguing with people and simply let them be wrong.
