Credible Cockers!
Re: Credible Cockers!
How do you know they are accurate? How many of the suspect dogs have come back as Cockers but not been reported? How easy would it be to take a swab from a known Sprocker and send it in as a suspect impure Cocker? There's so much angst now that anything could happen.
In life, it is important to know when to stop arguing with people and simply let them be wrong.
Re: Credible Cockers!
I can't see the people who have done the test mucking about like that Judy to be honest, why would they? The swabs were taken, the micro chip numbers were taken, the results came back as would be expected. For whatever reason people seem desperate to rubbish anything that is being reported as accurate, I'm not sure why, I've no dog in this fight as I've said. I'll take as honest as the tests I've seen as Miesque takes as honest the ones he/she has seen.Judy wrote:How do you know they are accurate? The test results I've seen are, I suppose, what others have seen as in, a print out/certificate thing, I maybe wrong but these would have to be faked to get the result you wanted, or, the test in this case was right?
Re: Credible Cockers!
Lots of people on here including DNA experts are rubbishing the tests and going on about inaccurate DNA and baselines whilist steadfastly refusing to answer DR question. What happens if 100 tests come back with the same trend? Will they still rubbish them? DNA can be mind blowingly accurate. It can be used now to sample the exact species of fish in huge watercourses from a tiny sample of water and has recently been used successfully to identify fish species in the Arctic Ocean off Greenland. Please dont tell me it cannot be used to determine breeds in dogs. Maybe, just maybe Wisdom envisaged this test would just be used for rescue dogs and had no idea they would be dragged into this fiasco that threatens to bring down the whole registration system. This argument will continue to go round and round in circles as lunatics on both sides interpret results in a way that suits their argument and their wallet. In the meantime no one has yet answered DR apart from trying to belittle him....

Re: Credible Cockers!
my point is its academic because neither the KC or Wisdom appear to want to accept them as definitive proof of breeding.

Good God Naj, my question has absolutely NOTHING to do with the kennel club or what or what not they'll accept but mearly that the test must be at least a bit accurate qnd why that is, how many Times???????????Naj wrote:my point is its academic because neither the KC or Wisdom appear to want to accept them as definitive proof of breeding.

Uri Geller was reputed to bend spoons just by rubbing them in a certain way.

Re: Credible Cockers!
Dawnrazor, again you're missing the point the results are NOT accurate - they fit the allegations. That's not the same thing. It's like guessing the toss of a coin. It's not accurate when you guess right. It's luck. The spaniels will not come back as Boxers etc - they come back as Cocker/Springer/Mix as these two breeds are all but indistinguishable by DNA. Unless you thinking Boxers are also derived from field spaniels.
Plainsman - Those tests for fish are based on huge databases of samples known to be accurate, the exact opposite of the Wisdom panel.

Re: Credible Cockers!
You continually fail to understand my question and dodge the answer, there are tests that have came springers from springer parents, I've seen them, you clearly have not, if you're not going to answer the very simple, direct question please do not muddy the waters any more with you misdirection, thanks.Miesque wrote:Dawnrazor, again you're missing the point the results are NOT accurate - they fit the allegations.
I'll leave it there.
Re: Credible Cockers!
So now you are an expert on fish biology and fish DNA. If someone completes several tests and fills in the box that says cross breed (of any breed) and the results continually come back as either cocker or sprocker how is that luck? Presumably as far as Wisdom are concerned the sample could be from an Alsatian. Perhaps you should reveal your hand and explain your part in this....Miesque wrote:Dawnrazor, again you're missing the point the results are NOT accurate - they fit the allegations.
