We rely on people's integrity when it comes to this kind of post, we assume people wont either borrow and copy or buy a copy of a dvd. The producers obviously aren't as gullible, besides, its their livelihood, every pikey copy is a nail in the coffin as far as they are concerned - they spend a good deal of money and time making these things for our benefit but don't get the reward for their efforts so why should they bother?
Anyway, we were threatened with legal action and we aren't prepared to worry about that just because of you cheapskates!
Judy, is there any chance of pinning this post, or something similar?
I think most members understand the Forum's position on this, but each time a request to borrow or buy a DVD or book comes up we seem to go through the same old hoo-ha.
Or admin could perhaps simply remove the post and send a polite PM to the poster reminding them of the rules of this place?
So your not even allowed to borrow a dvd.....what about if you buy a copy direct from source and invite your best pal over???
Is he or she allowed to watch it over your shoulder or does he / she have to avert there eyes. ???
For the record I am not condoning illegally copied dvd but it all sounds rather silly to me
Muddling along in the hope that one day it starts to make sense.
What if you don't make public that you are inviting your best mate to "borrow" your DVDs? What if you were to spend hours making a DVD or more of training hoping to make some pennies from it and somebody was advertising on a public forum wanting to "borrow" it, buy a copy of it, whatever? All we can do is remind everyone that it the owner, and the people who run this forum for your benefit, have been threatened with legal action.
In future I guess we'll have to simply take down any DVD related posts as there's always some who like to tell us how stupid our stance is.
In life, it is important to know when to stop arguing with people and simply let them be wrong.
I fully understand your stance and wasn't questioning it. My comments were aimed at the dvd makers for there naivety in thinking that they can enforce such rules

I did say take it down
I did not realize this was against the law as I have bought hundreds of second hand DVD`s in the past
I was only asking........I was just wondering if anyone had a copy they no longer wanted. I bought this DVD 5 years ago and borrowed it to a friend who sadly passed away and for obvious reasons I never asked for it back....... hence why I was asking but I know now !!!
Sorry for being a cheapskate it will not happen again !!
the problem is that Paul French are very hot on and get very shirty about posts of this nature. No-ones fault, just the way it is. The forum has been threatened with legal action so have to be strict.

there is absolutly nothing illegal about selling or buying used retail dvds and Paul French can spend all his hard earned and get no where trying to prosocute anybody who does however it is illegal to copy his dvds and then sell on the copies
its not illegal to copy his dvds to your hard drive as back ups so that you can watch them on your own digital hardware as long as you dont share it with others.
I can understand wanting a second hand dvd or book if the original was no longer available, but where they are you are effectively shooting your self in the foot if you don't support the producers by buying original....especially if the quality is that good that its been recommended by those that have bought it already.
In a niche market, there is only a limited number of sales, by reducing the number of sales even further, buying second hand, your reducing the viability even further...something to about.
