Anyone considering or has recently taken their bitch to helmsway hero .unfortunately my own bitch has blanked twice, once to hellraiser once to hero. Obviously something amiss with Her so will not be trying again however keen to acquire a bitch pup.

Are you sure you're taking her at the right time? A friend of mine had a bitch who missed every time, she went to a specialist vet at Cambridge who pinpointed the problem - the bitch was fertile right at the end of her season result 5 healthy pups.

First time left her for near on three week only achieved slipped mating. Couple weeks after return home came back into season couldn’t repeat mating regarding over comitments.Hellraiser moved on so decided to use Hero. Had bloods taken and took her to Hero when levels indicated that she was right mated day 15 and 17. I was convinced she had taken however turnout to be false.
Very disappointed wanted pup for myself and looked forward to following the progress of others if into trial homes

Which blood test? the vet's in-house one or was the blood sent off for proper progesterone testing at idexx? The one done there and then at the vets is VERY unreliable where as the other is more expensive but will give you a 100% accurate reading.

Your bitch could very well be ovulating very early (day 7-8) or very late (day 20-21) which could explain why she missed... Only way to know for sure would be progesterone test with Idexx

Did you use the Idexx test for both matings? If yes, Take her to a repro specialist and check everything is actually in order - ultrasound, scope etc if necessary.

Thanks for all advice, although she is a lovely bitch don’t think I’ll go to any further expense or disappointment and buy a pup in. again I would appreciate the heads up if anyone is taking their bitch to Helmsway stud
