For those of you who remember Hank, sadly he died in his sleep on Saturday night.
He’d been out working on Saturday came home had a meal and dried off near the log burner. Me mate put him to bed about nine and he seemed fine and full of himself doing tail spins to his kennel. When he went to his kennel yesterday morning Hank didn’t appear as usual and me mate looked into his sleeping box and he was lifeless...
At his last vet check he’d been pronounced “fit as a flea”! Me mate thinks he must have had a heart attack in his sleep and he’s absolutely gutted, as am I. RIP Hank you were a real gent of a dog and much loved by all who knew you. At least you had a much happier and kinder last few years than your first few and learnt to trust folk again.
RIP Hank, I am sure you gave him some great years. He died in his sleep having spent the day doing what he loved, a great way for a working dog to leave.
Be careful what you say about my wife or kids, be VERY careful what you say about my gundogs.
It is always sad when we lose them. However, i have skimmed through the whole history of Hank and I choose to take the positive view that Hank was very lucky indeed to find you and it sounds like you and your mate enjoyed your time with him as well. Taken in full context his was a very happy story.
I'm suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog when it doesn't like a person. - Bill Murray
This was before my time here, and curiosity got the better of me, ( well was either this or doing accounts and tax return blah ).
Read the thread and was moved, you and your mate did a great job Rascal, giving Hank a life deserving of the dog, and coming from a poor beginning you both stepped up to the plate and did him proud. Saddened by his loss, but heartened by his story.
