Hello from Bathgate
Hello from me and my six month old WCS, Harris!
We're based in Bathgate near Edinburgh
Harris is my first dog and I've been reading posts on here from the sidelines for a few weeks now! So now I've signed up to the forum I'll hopefully gain some advice and have some fun along the way
My boy's still really young so I'm keeping things light hearted and fun but I've started the basics like sit, stay, recall with him and started trying to nurture his hunting and retrieving instincts with the help of a local gundog trainer.
Look forward to getting to know you all a bit better
Cheers, Ross

Re: Hello from Bathgate
Welcome to the forum ....you live just a few miles from me. Is the local gundog trainer "Wee John" by any chance ?

Thanks for the welcome Wullie.
No it's George Threadgill from Linlithgow. He mostly trains and works Labs but loves spaniels and he's got a good way about him and really helpful.

Hi Ross
I'm Edinburgh based with an 8 month old WCS, my first dog too. Give us a shout if you ever fancy doing some training together, it may well be the blind leading the blind right enough!

Hi Andy
That sounds good, I'll PM you once the snow disappears.
Could well be the blind leading the blind but two heads are better than one and I'm sure we'll muddle through!

Re: Hello from Bathgate
Maybe so but you can advise from the sidelines sat on a log with a wee dram in one hand and a cafe creme in the other ,
Muddling along in the hope that one day it starts to make sense.

I'm a Hamlet miniature smoker but apart from that you are correct. I could sit and watch while dispensing gems of wisdom secure in the knowledge that I would not have to demo the work of my own dogs !

May I suggest a thermos of Bovril and a tartan rug
