Re: Feeding of our working dogs - requirements.
I’ve just got around to reading the article
and it was interesting to see the reference to higher carb content being more important to sprinting dogs. Seeing the mania we have developed for ‘pace’ and speed so our dogs are effectively being bred for short duration sprints over endurance then carbs may be of more importance than we might think.

It was always said that tripe was for a stayer and not a sprinter, the Greyhound men around where I grew up would never feed tripe, its always stuck with me, I never fed my lurcher tripe and when I did I'm sure there was a diffirence in their flat out speed, my terriers always worked well on tripe.

When I was in my late teens/early twenties I could get "dirty tripe" very easily and very cheaply and in large quantities ….my dogs got little to eat apart from tripe and they thrived on it …..and stank on it !

Eww and "lights", I remember my Mum cooking them up for the dog. Phew!
In life, it is important to know when to stop arguing with people and simply let them be wrong.

Cutting up tripe was the only job I ever wore gloves for, if you didn't you noticed people moving away no matter how many times you washed your hands!
