I agree it is unlikely that the new owner would be changing the food so quickly, but on what I've read about the contaminated food I mentioned, the problem with pups didn't become apparent until they were fully weaned and solely on that food, and not all the pups in a litter were susceptible - so it does not rule out an issue with the food the breeder chose. Such a sad thing to happen though.
