goat hunting
Have any of you noticed the fuss over an American dolly-bird that shot a goat and a couple of other animals in Scotland ? I think she was unwise to post trophy pics of herself with these animals perhaps but what she did was in no way illegal and her stay here probably brought several thousand pounds cash into that local community.
It seems that doing goat culls and deer culls is O.K. - - - But not if you pay to do it and then are pleased with any success you get.
That attitude makes no sense to me. Somebody moaned about having to see dead animals - - - presumably it is fine, however, to walk past dozens of dead birds or animal parts in a supermarket as long as they are in a nice little tray and covered with see through plastic ?

Re: goat hunting
Couldnt agree more wullie, the hypocrisy from certain people is quite astounding. For instance my sister is against shooting sports and yet eats meat and her husband fishes
i don't think the man on the street has any real idea about the fact that these animals such as deer and goat are shot as part of a cull for the good of the herd. Its an education or rather lack of thing
Muddling along in the hope that one day it starts to make sense.
Re: goat hunting
Currently being discussed on the radio and Lord Pearson is making very sensible comments in support.
Personally I would not have made these pictures public knowing the backlash that would occur as the antis are pouncing on the trophy hunting angle but on the other hand why should these activities be secret? A difficult one to call

Good point Sandra, a difficult call as you say

I think that the more we back off from the anti's for fear of provoking them the more demanding they will get....give them an inch and they will take a mile.

I agree with Wullie, don't worry folks, I'll take my temperature when I've finished writing this, if you enjoy the hunt and eat the animals then say so - its a legal activity after all. The World's going mad, led by self righteous vegans I'm afraid. I have to admit though, I was highly amused by some of the comments on the BBC page.

For all our friends from other Countries, this is the "news" we are talking about;

Re: goat hunting
As "the fuss" goes, we Yank hunters got Mr. Dumb-arse Idaho Potato Head to disavow. As of this time last week he was known as Idaho's Fish & Game Commissioner - no longer, now he's just Mr. Dumb-arse Idaho Potato Head...
And for all our friends from other Countries, this is the news "we" are talking about: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/15/us/i ... frica.html

Some people will never learn. What did they think would happen? Honestly.

Hadn’t realised that sheep were now valued as trophies.
