Hold on, mate - so you are at a gallop across the pond from the Curragh to The Spa? Marvelous.

Only giving tongue in cheek, to mix a metaphor, about use of a pro trainer, but plenty of spaniel trialing opportunities upper (and to an extent lower) half of the state into (New) Jersey and Penn's woods (Pennsylvania).

Taking runners = Following the trail of a moving bird and eventually producing it for the gun (while keeping the dog in gun range)

I shipped a pup from a litter i bred to the US last year. Mine flew from Heathrow into Dallas and then on to Memphis i think.

There were various companies who can do it and the pricing varies a fair bit.

Think the pup had to be a minimum of 12 weeks old, rabies jab wasn't compulsory before flying but the onus was on the buyer to have it done on the other side, puppy jabs and a fit to fly certificate were needed.

Keep in mind these fee's which may tot up:

Freight charges
UK airport fees
IATA container
Agency fee

Most companies include these themselves. Think the cheapest quote we had was about £800 from a specialized company. In the end i'm sure the buyer organised it themselves through american airlines at a much cheaper cost. You can pick up 2nd hand air freight approved crates on ebay for a fraction of the cost of new ones. Size of the pup/dogs affects the price too

Cheers

The good news is that you will be close (American close = within 150 miles) to some good American trainers.

Names of good trainers would be great Blackjaw

Crackered - yes, I'm switching bases for a year and decided to bring two of the dogs along. I've a good amount of time off in hunting season so it seemed like it would interesting to see how spaniels are worked stateside

MDP - thanks, my quotes for €1.1k for both isn't bad at all then
