This seasons overall trialling stats.

Post by EssGrouse »

Taking into consideration last year's Open Stake results please find this year's statistics. I also have open and novice springer and cocker stats. Will post them at a later date when a bit more time.

Please do not take these without my permission and especially no amending.

Enjoy.

Thanks for posting them, Liam. I have a quick question; does this forum breed Spaniel Spods or are you all drawn to it?

I used to know a "spaniel spod." He could reel off from memory the pedigrees of spaniels all the way back to when Methusla was a pup ! We nicknamed him "Pedigree Pete" coz although he was brainy his own spaniels were crap...….he couldn't have trained a parrot to sit on a perch !

It's odd how brainy folk are often crap dog trainers  I think they maybe think they can learn it all from books instead of relying on their instincts a bit more ?
Being too brainy was not a problem I ever had .

Very true ! I based my "theory" on brainy people on the lawyers, doctors, vets and schoolteachers I once gave training classes to. Some were very poor at looking at things from a dog's point of view but it is true that some of them were not.

I think the worst pupil I had among the "brainy folk" was the man who was a mathemetician. He always seemed to be far more interested in the theory of dog training than in doing it "for real." He gave me a somewhat jaundiced view of brainy folk as dog trainers . He was stupid in one respect though. He'd bought himself a hellhound of a GSP instead of a nice, placid lab !
