What did you use instead? Just dummies?

its tennis balls that induce this i find and why I never train with them.
Obviously my experience is limited but i never had an issue with balls. My one is mad for balls and will retrieve em all day and has never mouthed em neither does she mouth anything else. I never chastise retrieves of anything even if i didnt want it such as reading glasses remote controls etc
I avoid anything that may cause a problem and train on what they will be trained on. So normally start with a canvas dummy initially, then depending on how they react go straight to rabbit skins or wings on.
People tend to do too much to soon, the dogs these days for the best part have more instinct than the humans, and generally it's those who cock things up believing the dog should be trained x in x amount of time.

I think that a dog that "bites down" and a dog that "rolls" a dummy or ball are two different things although I imagine both can come from over excitment.
In the end it all comes down to good mouth manners.

Good breeding and avoiding certain known lines who have certain dogs in and or head back towards dogs of a certain name....

I don't think its the ball, or a light dummy that's causing the problem, the problem will be something you are doing. Don't train around other dogs until youre 100% happy with her. Without seeing her I would say that you are putting too much pressure on her, it may be steadiness or insisting on a sit. Try forgetting both and encourage her to come in fast and jump all over you without you taking the retrieve

The dog in question is well bred, i had his brother who didnt have this issue.
Hes done it from day one. How do i upload a video it will speak a thousand words?
He comes in fast and jumps onto my lap but i stopped this because hes just to frantic with his head.
I now have it so he sits in front of me.

Considering the pup's age, I would go with Romanriver.

Chances are as Chrokeva says, it comes from excitement. Better to have the pup's focus on driving back to you. You have lots of time to shape the delivery to your liking.

I think if you are talking hard mouth then yes breeding but there are some very talented well bred dogs that are just excitable in there temperament. Give me that anyday over a dog with a sloppy fumble mouth.
