I've viewed a good hundred or more of his videos and have seen plenty of happy dogs. I've even noticed that he is very game to chastise a dog's owner for bad timing of punishment and/or quickly resorting to it when other measures were warranted. As to a dog's body language a dog can exhibit highs and lows within mere seconds and it is not necessarily a sign that a dog will stop a undesired behavior or is in anyway cowed or ruined. Imagined harm is the bane of 'modern' dog training.Judy wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2020 4:14 pm He is way too harsh for modern dogs, swinging dogs round by the ears for moving on a 'stay'? Look at the dogs' body language before extolling his virtues, they don't look too happy to me. Mind you neither did that female Dove when the male started posturing on next-doors roof - its all about reading the behaviour doncha know?
The title of this thread is appropriately named. If one cannot objectively talk about punishment and reward in dog training with no bias for one or the other then I see the forum punishing itself.
