New Computer

Just upgraded my old tired out computer that could not manage to store or handle video editing, along with old age that we all suffer from.

So purchased a new one gleaning all the new reviews with new words to learn in my vocabulary as CPR, GPU, Ram, Ghz, etc. So I selected what I needed and got it built by a company I reviewed on line. Was going to do it myself with my sons assistance, chose not to in the end. It was very quick and easy, specked to my intended needs using all the advice read and picking or selecting what to ignore. It has arrived and I have spent the last few days updating drivers, installing my software for dog data base, transferring saved files from old one, etc.

First impressions, wow it starts up fast and closes just as quick. Upgrades take minutes or seconds where I used to watch my old computer collapse under the stress. I now have enough storage to meet my video and photo needs and have external SSD for backup, oh another new found word I have learnt. I changed from Windows home to Pro and to be honest dont see an impact yet. Maybe I am looking wrong. I have also found that Windows 10 now on command gets rid of junk like temp files and files not needed after upgrading, who knew, me of course coming on 60 and I am finding new things to learn. I have also upgraded my video/picture editing to Davinci, a new learning curve in deed. My old computer could not handle such modern software, reason for renewal as I said to the wife, she was unimpressed. Why do our partners fail to see benefits of our purchases or hobbies for that matter.

Onward and forward to infinity and beyond or not. Davinci seems easy in how to on you tube it looks like a lot of fuss to get it to edit/cut/change definition. But what it can do takes it beyond anything I ever did all for free. It will just take time for me thats all. Now what about new camera gear to match my new computer editing. Now away to you tube more learning to go through.

It takes a while to get used to new operating systems but worth the effort to upgrade. I moved my father from Windows to Mac and that was emotional….very emotional. Unless something works exactly how he thinks it should work (not how it was designed to work or how the instructions set it out) then it’s clearly defective. Definitely not him….

Not all spouses are the same! Mine is buying me a new computer... On the other hand he was considerably less impressed when I spent lots of money on a new camera, something I use almost every day.
