You ever notice how charging cables have a mind of their own? It's like they secretly plot against you. Every time I reach for one, it's a battlefield of twisted knots. And why are there so many types? Can't we just agree on one universal standard? :(

And the fragility! They break if you look at them the wrong way. I just want a cable that doesn't snap like it's made of unicorn hair. Plus, the lengths are always extreme – either too short to be practical or long enough to trip over. :brickwall:

I know it's a minor gripe, but dealing with this cable chaos every day is like a low-stakes, infuriating game of Twister. Can't we just have simple, sturdy, and sensible charging cables, please?

Any idea where I can get a handy device to manage all my charging cables?

Devices that take unusual small batteries that don't say what they are on the device, I bought LR1's they looked about right but are about 1 mm too big, I actually needed MN21's apparently - why can't they print it inside where the batteries fit! Whilst on the subject two stroke machines that don't print the fuel mix on the tank cap - it is usually 1:50 but not always grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I have so many at the moment ( subjects to rant about ) But the most fitting for here is the creep of bureaucracy.
Some of you may recall a few years ago there was a requirement to have a licence for the transport of animals, which included the `commercial' transport of dogs. Just dropped into my inbox is the latest `requirements ' which is now 11 pages long and requires additional ` certifications' for " All" journeys ( previously only over 8 hours ) and an additional "vehicle approval" certificate.
It also seems DEFRA have applied crate sizes based on the size of dog, which exceed many of the standard size you would normally associate with your dog. Height inside crate is now head up height to top head or ears which ever is higher. Length is from tip of nose to base of tail plus half measurement from floor to elbow. Width is width across shoulders X2. Get out your tape measures people.
And just in case you think this only covers `commercial' transport of dogs. If you happen to live in Wales I have some bad news for you.
However, under WATEO and the other implementing legislation there
are some general provisions for the protection of dogs and cats which are not covered under the Regulation
but are being transported as pets (non-commercially).
Do you really think that this won't be weaponised against the field sports community in the current climate?

Here's another one - North Herefordshire country pub that doesn't take cash! Card only -- the only joy of that was I only had cash so couldn't buy the rest of the family a drink, I will not be going back! The very young person behind the bar appeared surprised that I was surprised that they didn't accept cash! I was drinking there before she was born!

It is me isn't it?

I would think that there are far more dogs in transportation for non fieldsport dog sport participation, and throughout the year. Just think of the numbers involved with dog showing, obedience, all the Schutzhund type events, flyball, etc.

I’m no fan of bureaucracy but unfortunately the irresponsible minority spoil it for the sensible majority. Hopefully things have changed now but I remember field triallers travelling away on the trial’s circuit for several days with the backs of their estates crammed with dogs that, of necessity, had to be packed into undersized crates to get them all in there. And commercial dog carrier services require some kind of regulation on crate size I’d have thought.

The acceptability or otherwise of crates around the world is interesting and maybe gives a guide as to where we might be heading. In some countries they are seen as detrimental to welfare and are banned except for transport. And there is specific regulation on the size of rooms that you can keep a dog shut up in, which presumably includes kennel/run dimensions.

It can backfire though....my son is away skiing with school this week. He took his phone, which has my credit card on it for 'emergency' use (not beer Oliver...) and his phone went kaput on day 2. I've no idea if he has another method of paying for stuff, he does have his own bank card but again I think that was linked to Apple Pay. Cash wins.

My cousin is always railing against the cashless society and is continuously banging on about it on fb, so I found it quite amusing when we were staying at a hotel with him recently that when it came to paying the bill he selected from one of the many plastic cards in his wallet.
