I have just been intouch with Mike Smith, the guy that is in charge of the championship, and he says at this moment in time it is still on.They are hoping for a bit of a thaw but will make the final decision by the middle of next week.

Just had this sent through

Due to the continued bad weather throughout the UK and particularly
near the trial ground, with yet more snow and temperatures well below
zero degrees centigrade, it has been decided to postpone the Cocker
Championship until Friday 29th January and Saturday 30th January 2010.
It is hoped that by this time there will have been a thaw and the
ground will be suitable for the wee dogs. The meet will be at the same
location and all other plans remain the same. You are advised to
contact the HQ Hotel regarding any bookings you may have had that
require rescheduling.

The Working Party look forward to meeting everyone on the revised
dates and wish you all a very successful Championship.

Might be able to make the Friday myself Bill - will give you a shout closer to then. Spoke to a chap a while back who nows the ground and he said it would be decent for spectating, Suppose 'decent' is about as good as it gets as a trial spectator

Not really a spectator sport is it ? I may be travelling to this trial with Penny the cockers owner . If the trial is at Etal - Ford I have been there several times competing in HPR trials . I know quite a bit of the ground - wonder where the trial will be held?

In the same wood it was last time it was here. The really , really long straight one.

The viewing isn't great as we are all outside the wood on one side while everything is in the wood. This means you see nothing of the right sided dogs.

Hopefully they will let us follow on in the wood this time, as it will also be a bit warmer. ;)
