Maybe to tell the dog it's a work day not a walk? :? ;)

I wish someone would come up with a decent sized game bag that you carry on your back like a rucksack, I really struggle with a heavy bag on one side of me. I have a training vest which is ok for dummies but is next to useless for game. :(

i use a roe-sack when out lamping rabbits with my lurcher, its basicaly a very large rucksack with a draw cord on it, which i tie with a loose enough hole on, that i can just drop the rabbits in without having to take the bag on and off, you can fit around 20 rabbits in it, it doesnt look very big but it is surprising how much can fit into it. :-D

I think everyone has a game bag to replicate a training day/working day but these are so big. Its maybe to do with the width of the strap spreading the weight slightly better when its used for carrying game or training equipment, but on a trial day most are flat with only a bowl and some water kept in them.

Quite a few of the Lab people have ruck sack type game bags, similar to the GDK training vest. Their a bit more substantial, I'll ask around to find out what make they are.

It's not the pro vest from GDK is it David like this one? I would appreciate your help because if there is a decent one out there, I know what I would like for my Birthday! :-p

I've asked my friend who uses one and he can't remember the make . Its of the same style as the GDK pro vest. The only thing he could tell me was that it was from a web site that deals with Falconry accessories.

I've seen him use it in summer and he can get more that sufficient rabbits in it.

there are some huge vests from cabelas (giant pockets and giant size.... I got one and it's BIG!!) and here in Italy men usually have vests with large pockets on the back which can contain a hare or 3-4 pheasants... I have one but I usually manage to have somebdy else carry the animals

If you want one like these I'd look for some links

For those interested in a simple rucsac, then you can do no better than those designed for caving.

Usually made of waterproof PVC with drain holes. Can be simply washed out with a hose pipe.

They are cheap and will last a lifetime. The only drawback is the colour, since by definition, they are bright! However, there might be an argument for seeing this as a virtue, since it is behind you it is hardly likely to disturb game ahead and might be considered to be of some safety benefit on your back!

Here's more, they do a green one!

Hi guys, may I dispell the myth that spaniel handlers spend real money on their gamebags?!

I have two of the type that most spaniel handlers at trials use and they are made by Sherwood Forest and cost between £15 and £20. The smaller one I have I use when shooting etc. and can hold about 4 or 5 pheasants or rabbits. The larger one is huge and I keep all my dummies, bolting rabbit etc. in if I'm planning on using everything at a training session.

There you go, the secret's out!
