My friend has just bought a "fox red" lab... but got papers back from KC.... only to find out they list them as yellows........ she was gutted, as i would be if they called my cockers ..."liver".....................they are chocolate dogs.........

So is there such thing as a fox red.......... :?:

I think there are officially 3 Lab colours, black yellow and liver!! Liver seems to have permutated into chocolate over the years. :-D Having had a liver Flatcoat I can't cope with chocolate Cockers.... :brickwall: Chocolate is what you eat...

Judy :-D

Probably started when somebody realised that they could charge an extra 50 notes for a pup if they said it was "fox red" rather than a dark shade of "yellow".

Same as "chocolate" cockers being easier to sell that "liver" ones. ;)

Yep fox reds are just a shade of yellow.....but the dark ones look great
Ive seen some puppy pics somewhere and the pup was yellow at 8 weeks and by 6 Months it was fox red....amazing :-D

Ok maybe a strange question, but I thought that Foxreds had a different colour nose.... or is this a load of £$%$?  Liver is very different to Chocolate.... and that is my answer to that one ;) :?

Probably "teaching my grandmother to suck eggs" (wherever did that expression come from, I'm sure my grandmother wouldn't have dreamed of sucking eggs   ) but the breed standard for WSS says "Colour: Rich red and white only." No accounting for the KC. :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall:

Incidentally, I've lost count of the number of times people have asked me what breed my fox-red Lab puppy is, usually "is he a Viszla?"
