I just went to my local Tesco's to fill up me Galaxy with Diesel and was KO'd with the price per ltr
125.9 !!! UN BELIEVABLE

The UK has the 2nd highest Diesel price in Europe and the 8th highest Petrol price behind Norway ..
Compare it to USA, and you're paying 47.76 for petrol and 52.57 per ltr for Diesel !!!

Where does our money goes when buying fuel??

Have a look !!Image

Our local Tesco, with no other garage in Royston, is charging 128.9p for diesel as of yesterday :brickwall: If we go 9 miles up [or down] the road to Baldock it is 3p cheaper because they have competition from Sainsbury's etc, AND has anyone else noticed that when Tesco have a 5p off promotion the price goes up the week before so they don't give anything away

Rant of the day is about the snow and ice
All the local shoots are cancelled for Monday
Wonder if those nice people in charge of such things
will extend the season or there's going to be an awful
lot of phessies to collect up for breeding.

Well, we lost an awful lot of days up here last season, tail end of December and well into January. There was no extention to the season then and I wouldn't expect that it will be any different this season.

We already lost a lot of days this year and although many places have managed to "catch up" with them, there are some places which have been unable to do so. Good news, is that so far I'm on for Monday and Tueday, even if the place I should originally have been at on Tuesday has cancelled - cos the guns are fed up with this weather and are travelling home on Tuesday instead of shooting.
Happiness is where we find it, but rarely where we seek it.

Re: random rant MEGGA FIREWORKS

Post by kath »

This is probably the first rant of the year and it may sound like it is coming from an old scrooge but why is it that some selfish people feel the need to let off the loudest fireworks that I have ever heard. Honestly.....they were alarmingly loud. It is just ridiculous. I am soooo ANGRY! I do not mind a certain amount of noise and fireworks and have come to expect them on every type of celebration nowadays but on New Years eve at 1am is pushing it too far imo. Midnight fine.. then shut up! :naughty:

I sincerely hope that this does not cause too much trouble for my 6 month old ess pup, who incidently pooped in her kennel she was soooo frightened. Come to think of it...I nearly did!!!!!

Does anyone else worry about the effect that this will have on our young gundogs?

Anyway....HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Unfortunately the .......... are legally allowed to let off fireworks then
The 2003 Fireworks Act

Main Points of the Act and the resulting regulations:

Set a curfew on the use of fireworks, banning them between the hours of 11.00pm and 7.00am except except for Bonfire Night (midnight), Diwali, New Year, and Chinese New Year (1.00am)
Banned shop sales of fireworks louder than 120 decibels.
Created an offence for under-18s to have them in a public place.
Made all year-round shop sales licenceable.
Limited the sale period for other retail outlets.
The Act is also an enabling act which set out a framework for more detailed regulations to appear in the future.
Text at Office of Public Sector Information Fireworks Act 2003
Personally I would like to see their use restricted to licensed public events only. A few years ago I went to to 2 day open trial at Winsdor Great Park and thought I had been very lucky to find a really good B&B just opposite where the trial was going to be. The B&B was just by Legoland, it was November 5th and they were having a big display there. By ten o'clock it was so loud and continous the whol;e house was shaking so I took my dog and drove three miles away to get some peace and returned after midnight. Brilliant preparation for the trial......
