spoke to a friend who's suggested an industrial estate near me which is rife with rabbits!!!!

that being said (sorry for my complete lack of experience! ) but when i go on that ground.....what do i want from my dog?!

i know i don't want him to chase them, but do i want him to ignore them or what?! - the ground has little/no cover, so not ideal for him to flush anything!!

Is the cover likely to be better during the summer?
Happiness is where we find it, but rarely where we seek it.

   The area you describe sounds just like my best rabbit hunting ground ! I sometimes write about hunting my dogs there in Charlie's Chatter. I even call the place "Indy Estate !" It at least sounds posh !

The rabbits are often seen there out on open , manicured grass. Those bits are useless for training. The rabbits just run off as I approach within 50 -80 yards of them. There are some rough areas of grass , gorse and bramble bushes between some of the factory units and that's where I hunt my dogs.

Take a good look around your indy estate area. You may find some huntable parts of it.

Hi Nick

Before worrying too much about what ground is doing what can I suggest that you have a visit to a trainer locally.

I'm aware they can seem expensive but it will save you a fortune in the long run & at least give you some idea where to start.

Not many have great training grounds and we work with what we've got.

Good Luck

thanks for all your replies... especially the old sage Wullie..... now that you mention it there's an old disused railway track that runs through the estate so should be able to find something workable there!!! :-D :-D
