cocker stud
Can anyone recommend a good quality stud in northern ireland or the south must be out working, trialling, small type very flashy, silent, hard hunting, the usual and something worth watching. I will travel to find the right dog if that means crossing water so be it.

As a handler, its impossible to make your dog perform better than it is, but very easy to make it perform far worse.

Re: cocker stud
As Paul pointed out Zebedee is available as are a number of other well bred dogs.
This is the perennial problem at the moment if you have a bitch here in Ireland, almost invariably you have to cross the water to access your preferred stud dog, with all the attendant arrangements and additional travel costs.
Additionally the €price market for pups no matter how well bred is substantially less than that in the U.K. a fact that has been regularily pointed out on this forum.
How is your bitch bred and I may be able to forward you a number of options which you might like to consider.

Re: cocker stud
Get on the boat and use a proper dog try ftch Mallowdale Gunn..... to many unproven dogs here in Ireland if you are going to put the time and effort into the pups start on the right footing .Seems to be that people are promoting dogs particuarily in the north that have never had their mouth even tested do they make noise ???????????????? etc etc in fact everytime i meet acertain man he is promoting a certain dog that has had more bitches than any other dog without ever being tested in the competition line.Alot of people have unfortunatley jumped on the cocker band wagon in the hope of cashing in on their popularity
p.s ...this is not directed at any of the lads who contributed to this thread although i would think they know who i mean

Thanks guys was looking into lockslane archibald and cheweky bovril have you got your own preferences due to type etc. I have no objection to travelling and no intention of using just any dog I am also looking for something small very hard hunting stylish and silent to hopefully add to and compliment my bitch I intend on keeping 1 if not 2 pups to bring on .

FT Ch.Mallowdale Zander has got to be worth considering too, another truely sound dog. was very unlucky at the championship this year with a rotten retrieve but keeps qualifying,
