Does anyone use the liquid game scents on dummies?
For a bit we not have access to fresh kill so are these an option?
Any help or thoughts would be great.
Thanks

I did try these scents out , I thought they were a waste of time, effort and money.

You'd do better smearing cheese paste on the dummies ...... the dogs like it more !

So the only when I can get them on the scent is a pre kill?
Re: Peasant game stick/liquid scents
I keep my dummies in a game bag, in the bottom of the bag are some old wings used to attach to dummies, and a rabbit skin that has fallen off an old dummy. Not sure what scent this gives them but my dogs have never had any problem moving from dummies to the real thing.

I got the same icky stuff. If i have game out to train with i often mix with dummies too, bit more careful during summer months though, don't want the dummies trying to crawl away on their own.beltabout wrote:I keep my dummies in a game bag, in the bottom of the bag are some old wings used to attach to dummies, and a rabbit skin that has fallen off an old dummy. I wouldn't worry about it too much, dogs are born knowing what game is. Its stopping them from having fun with it too early thats the usual problem.

I used it a lot with my Lab as a youngster..and she is very switched on to Pheasants...did try a little test a whilst back , basically we did a fun day at a training group...played doggy bingo
..put out 36 tennis balls , 6 of which had prizes...to slow it down I scented the tennis balls without prizes, ended up as a free for all as people got more wine in them dogs kept bringing back the scented balls took a whiles before any unscented ones came back ..could be the scent was a factor regardless of what it was supposed to mimic.
