Is it not a requirement by the KC, that both parties (owner of sire and dam) sign to witness the mating?

It wasn't a dig!.
I suppose one black lab over another is easily recognisable over a web cam!...
Spaniels are a wee bit different I suppose?...Mind you? if you have heard this happening,it must be ok
.........
I was just asking for 'clarification'!...which may help you in the same?

I know hence the joke about webcams... will be making sure we do the right thing, and your question is one that will be making sure we answer before deciding.

there is no part of the form that states both owners have to be there, it simply states that the owner of the sire must sign to say that the bitch as identified to him was mated to the sire on said date. He then simply fills in the stud dog details. The owner of the dam has to also sign to state that all details are true to the best of their knowledge and beliefe.

Reading between the lines on these posts it looks like some obscure views on this, the underlying one being lack of trust or suspicions on a stud dog owner!!!
I can’t see what advantage would be gained by the stud owner, as it is his and his dogs reputations as much on the line as anyone’s, he has the responsibility of accommodating visiting bitches, the health and welfare of them plus making all efforts to make sure said bitch is covered by the designated dog. I don’t know about GBKC forms but IKC allow for an agent to sign papers, plus dogs are micro chipped for identification purposes.
It may be nearly forty odd years ago now but then many dogs was put in the guards van of a train and picked up the other end, be that for breeding or sales etc.
This suspicion all works both ways, any unknown/unrecognised bitch without a microchip is accommodated by a stud /owner on pure" trust" that it is said bitch and hasn’t been covered elsewhere beforehand and is in good health.
Trust plays a big part in the gundog world, rumour or idle gossip thrives on nothing but wild imaginations or via third hand information. Everything in life has some risk attached.
