Not an unusual situation IMO. It happens. Re: dog dealers
Unfortunately that's the nature of the beast and what people do to make money and unless you know the background, some poor sods buy these pups on the back of their pedigrees. I've given away a few part or fully trained bitches in the past to friends as pets and kept their paperwork who I know won't breed just because I don't think they are good enough to breed from. Unless you spey a bitch before you sell it, there is always the potential this will happen. There's people in gundogs as a business to make money, there's people in gundogs as a hobby and there's breeders who want to improve the breed. Unfortunately, this will never change.

I have a friend who is adverting her very mediocre family pet of 3 years no training, no manners & full tailed nob off merchant as
Hard hunting excellently bred and fully trained but been left due to illness and wants £700
I could buy a a stunner both in breeding, background and looks for that money
Fools and their money springs to mind

Didn't say that. Said it happens, it also happens that people who don't know better may well buy the dog. A fair price is what someone is prepared to pay for it. This is exactly why you buy dogs from people who have a stake in the real issues a breeding plan with insight and a passion for the breed and it's future. If you don't like the dog don't buy it and steer away from it's progeny.paul spaniel wrote:so it should not matter if mum is useless, just use a good stud dog and u will have good pups ??
