I do dislike this new trend of calling them working cockers, even more so on a gundog forum. They are cockers plain and simple, its getting more and more now. Will we have to start calling all gundog breeds working spaniels or working labs. Sorry not having a pop at you directly its just something thats started to pee me off. Best of luck with your cocker though

As you blow two pips you turn, as she comes across you blow it again and you turn again she'll soon work that one out. And as you blow several pips for the recall give her the arms open wide visual signal and start walking backwards....

Here we have so few of them compared to the show type that you sort of need to clarify what you have but mostly i define my dogs as real spaniels and real labradors or say they are classical.

With the labs the need is less now, i think they are up to 40% of the population but when i got my first one 25 years ago or so it was just a few around and you didn't feel welcome anywhere but out picking up. We didn't have trials back then, just tests and it wasn't always over popular to come with a field bred labrador. I can see why, they of course in general outclassed the show bred or so called dual labradors.
Oops, forgot the pips, i use one short pip for turn.
