the fore end will also be matching. my friend who has the SP also has a browning and handled it the other week as he is selling it. it just seemed awkward and the balance was too barrel heavy, even though the guns weighed the same. also when mounted the view on to the rib did not look right across the lever to the barrels and i could not get a decent mount.
but agree in a way with buying a grade V, but i like the colour case hardening, the Beretta fit, gold birds and reliable mechanics above all and they hold the resale value very well. with a custom stock and fore end fitted it will come in around 2.2K. what else can i buy for that kind of money with those attributes, and a stock which i chose? answers on a post card pls
I'm luckier than you lot. All I require from a shotgun is that it isn't too heavy, isn't full choke in both barrels and goes "Bang!" when I pull the trigger !

that sounds like my neighbour Ian. he went and bough a £50 special single barrel 12G. so uncomfortable it hurts, kicks like a mule. but the stock is nice at least!!

BSA Snipe by any chance? My boyfriend's got one and it fits that description to a T but he loves it and shoots better with it than anything else! Weirdo...
My first shotgun was a side by side hammer gun and the hammers were a bit shoogly and inclined to fire when I wasn't expecting it. My second shotgun was a single barrel "Cooey" which also had a hammer but in it's case a small hammer like on a revolver. The gun was pitted to hell and gone and a pit hole went right through the barrel. This caused it to sort of whistle when it was fired. I had it out doing a bit of Marsh Cowboying and couldn't hit a bloody thing with it. Then a duck flew over that I wouldn't even raise a gun to now, it was a good 60 yards up and going like the clappers.
I fired at it using my usual cartridges, paper cased jobs from the second World War that only came in No.1 shot .... they cost less than half the price of the other cartridges back then so I used them all the time for every kind of shooting. The duck seemed to go upwards in the air as it's wings folded and it plummeted down to the sand. I ran to get it, I had no dog then, the duck had a large hole right through it's centre . No wonder it had gone straight up in the air before falling ! I had read just enough to have heard about shot "balling" so I tested the gun out on a couple of carboard boxes, sure enough the boxes had one main hole right through them. No wonder I'd found that gun hard to hit things with !

I saved up my pennies for ages a brought a SP 2 deluxe really nice looking gun but I couldn't hit a bloody thing with it, had the stock fitted and still couldn't hit a thing so I sold it, went back to my old shadow indy and scores doubled, shame as I loved the look and feel of the SP, I think it was the 30" barrels that didn't suit me, grew up shooting 25" Churchill style side by sides and 26" skeet guns.
Shotgun preferences are funny things. I get on fine with just about any side by side, semi-automatic or pump action but over and unders don't seem to suit me at all. I have no idea why. They just don't seem to feel right to me ???

A really fast handling gun
AYA's are very underated. Great field guns that can take a bit of weather. I have one which I use relatively often and live to bits. It shoots like a dream.
My first 25" gun was a French SBS under leaver that started off with 27" barrels with unbelievable choke and tight patterns so I chopped 2" of the barrels as I could not afford to have the choke opened, my kill rate soared so since then I have always likes short barrels and open chokes.
I won a good few clay shoots with that gun much to the annoyance of the browning and perazzi owners
