hi

I would go Suzuki Jimny.

great little off roader but really only two seater - took the back seats out and kitted it out for the dogs.

As long as the little truck has one seat and there's room for the dogs I can't see the problem:)

thanks for the input chaps! I do like Jimnys (and only need front seats anyway) but haven't come across the right one yet. I've looked at the Terrano my mate mentioned but I think it's going to be a bit thirsty for me as it's a 2.7 td!
cheers,
Alice.

MPG on the Jimny is similar to most trucks, they're not great on comfort for long runs so if you're planning on doing any kind of mileage I wouldn't consider one.

If you're happy with 30ish MPG then get a truck, want something in between freelander of XTrail, both should touch 40MPG

Totally agree. I love my x-trail, 180k on the clock and still going strong. We took out the rear seats and boarded it out to create more dog room, put in a Guardsman tailgate guard and Bobs your uncle! Sadly the increase in dog numbers require a larger vehicle so we now have an L200. The x-trail is off to become a shoot vehicle but at least I will still be able to drive it!

Whatever you get, if you do go down the route of removing the back seats, remember to take the seatbelt mountings out too. Otherwise you will have to reinstate the seats and seatbelts whenever the MOT is due.
