Re: Scotland/UK referendum
As this is a dog forum, what would a yes vote mean for the dog world? Would a dog be classed as an Int FTCh having won trials both sides of the border? If yea would it make a mockery of the title? Would the KC affiliated Championships only be run in England from now on?
Be interesting to find out

Re: Scotland/UK referendum
There are points to consider regarding dogs in the Independence debate, though I doubt either one would sway someones decision. 1) Tail docking. I see no way the ban will be reversed if Scotland is independent; the chances are slim even if Scotland stays in the UK but at least we can argue for equivalency in the law across the country. Much of the data on tail injuries and the workability of exemptions given in support of a change to the Scottish ban has come from outside Scotland. 2) Pet Passports. Quite ridiculously Pet Passports are now needed to travel to Ireland from Britain, though we are both rabies free islands. It would seem ludicrous that Pet Passports would be required for movement from England or Wales to Scotland but it's not impossible and I haven't seen anyone ask the question yet.

Re: Scotland/UK referendum
For the record I would keep the union but with Scottish, English, Welsh and Northern Irish assemblies and a separate GB Government for UK matters. I'd leave the GB Parliament in London purely for historical reasons but build the English Assembly a nice place to meet further up country, north of Birmingham. This would move money and people up north, hopefully ending the claim that policies are SE centric and alleviate the crowding in the SE.

Re: Scotland/UK referendum
Another thought....will they be chucking out all the English Springers? Or rebranding them?
Re: Scotland/UK referendum
I don't think they will be re-branding ESS but what does concern me (along with the dog issues Vicky has already mentioned) is KC Registration. While I don't expect the KC to give up a good source of income from dogs born in Scotland, they may be pressured to do so ......

If the Scots allow tail docking, then I'll say YES to an Independent Scotlandvicky payne wrote:There are points to consider regarding dogs in the Independence debate, though I doubt either one would sway someones decision. 1) Tail docking. I'm with Trekmoor
I thought AS was much better last night than previously even though he didn't/wouldn't answer some of the key questions
As an Englishman living in Scotland I can't really see any overall advantage to a yes vote.
My big worry would be if it is yes its very likely that there will be a land reform and if there is how is this going to affect shooting and other country sports?
