A couple of years ago I had a set of chaps made by Ann Rees (http://www.annrees.co.uk/people/chaps/w ... _chaps.htm).

I discovered the hard way with chaps that if you coat tail isn't long enough you can get a wet @rse in pouring rain. However for facing man-eating brambles they are indestructible. They can be almost too warm if beating all day in very mild weather. But great British made piece of kit which I can see me lasting (almost) a lifetime.
Those look great and reasonably priced for leather items.

Sorry Gav, not leather. It must just be how the photo comes out. It is a tough woven canvas type material.

I did pick up a cheeky pair of wax cotton chaps for this last month as a lighter weight option as the weather has been so warm.

In a fair fight between wax cotton chaps and the ones from Ann Rees and a barbed wire fence, my money would be on the Ann Rees chaps every time. Plus they zip up the sides rather than fix by poppers, so no accidental chaps flapping around your knees.

There's nothing worse than an accidental chap flapping around my knees!

There's a very old Pub in Norfolk which has a sign outside advertising Alef, turns out "f" was often written instead of "s" a few hundred years ago.

I oogled these when i was at the store last, i was cheap and bought another pair but i still wonder if this wouldn't be it. They felt nice on, not stiff at all.
