Over the years I've had whistles made from wood, Stag horn, Buffalo horn, plastic, metal, some with a pea and some without, they all Bar none went "peep" none ever went "yip"!!!

I have to agree. I ran it through my system ( A little bigger than a mobile phone ), and the `alleged' squeak  I heard comes after the two whistle pips as the dog got to the ground the bird departed from. I would of course bow to the experience of others, not having had dogs that would ever do such a thing  And the fact that it was once reported in some little known magazine called the `Shooting Times' or something, of it allegedly happening on a Field Trial my dog was running in  Was just a case of creative writing don't you know :snooty:

I agree with DR that there was a noise after the whistle pips, immediately after the bird flushed, which sounded very much like a yip, or maybe it was a hup from the handler but if it was the dog took no heed of it.

Jeeze you guys have done too much shooting..

It is an "hup" issued by the handler which is ignored by the dog, not sure why the whistle sit wasn't used as the dog would probably reacted quicker to that..

Sounded like a 'hup' to me, though quite a high voice.

Reminds me of a lovely Flatcoat Judge years ago, everybody loved running under them as they were a tad deaf and couldn't hear any slight impatience whines.

 This reminds me of a Trial I was chief steward of, A dog was running quite close pretty much the same distance as the spaniel in the clip, came on point in a clump of bramble, guns were made ready and judges were up. Handler was asked to produce so the handler gave a `git in' ( with accent ). The dog went in and bird flushed, but then came a `muffled yip' Clearly from the dog to my left handler was to my right. The judge also to my left asked the handler to pick up and consulted with his co-judge.
The dog was put out for giving tongue. To this day the handler was adamant it was mistaken for his `git in'. Not having an axe to grind either way, I know that the judge was right, but the handler still disagrees

This was what made me post in the first place, which is why I asked. But then I realised how often people post video's of what they think others will be interested in, and forget about the interesting stuff in the background.  When I see edit points I'm in the habit now of asking what happened `next' or `in between'. Its rare that dogs perform faultlessly to camera, with an editing suit we take out the `bad parts' or the worst of the `bad parts' and occasionally the edit point just allows a snippet of `bad' through before the really bad stuff hits the screen.
We have already seen in this case a division on interpretation of the viewers of the `alleged yip', So if it was a yip there is enough ambiguity so it was pretty safe to leave in ( assuming they even noticed it ) as it showed the end of the dogs work ( flushing live game ). Editing it out would mean only showing the dogs hunting pattern in the absence of game.
Now I don't want to cause mischief  , but, as Rascal pointed out, if it was a `hup' and not a `yip' and the dog did not hup....what happened next that was edited out? ( The dog took a line just before cut  ) Did it just clear its ground ? if so why was it cut? Did it chase ? Did it chase and give tongue? Did the camera battery run out? Did the handler use a naughty word for the dog not hupping ? Was Wullies bare bottom seen poking out of a nearby bush with another tummy upset?
The trouble, or some would say the power of editing, is often the imagination of the viewer is more damaging than the truth. ;) :)
