Thanks for your advise, its greatly appreciated, i've ordered a small bag for now and see how she goes, i just think a change in flavour every now and again may be good, this is the first change in her life time apart from going from puppy food to adult shes 8 this year.

With regards to sawdust, ill consider it, many have different opinions, even on the really expensive stuff that are apparently the best, all brands claim they are better so i'm trying to choose what works for my dog. I've got an uncle who swears by RAW diet but all i see is them having the sh*ts constantly so somethings not agreeing there. If you have an actual recommendation id be happy to hear it, i'm after helpful advice after all, otherwise why bother? I could be giving her worse food.

I'm afraid I can't comment on many commercial foods. I've only ever used them as fillers, but generally look for the higher protein foods. In my opinion all commercial foods are a compromise, but find one that agrees with your dog, and if the dog looks OK, not losing or gaining weight, and has enough energy for your requirements, then it's workable. Feed the dog in front of you and ignore the marketing hype.

Good old FB introduced me to a company called E.Hall, tripe factory sunderland. They have varying minces at very reasonable prices mixed with CsjK9 tripe feed works well for us.

Have you been to the mill and seen what goes into it? Just wondering how you came to that opinion.

I've got to agree about Skinners dog food, I've tried it a few times over the years, along with dozens of other brands, and found it to be consistently crap, I've tried it on Labs, Springers, Hounds, Lurchers of various crosses, Cockers and Terriers, I'll never buy it again, never ever had any dog do well on it, it's a familiar story with most of the people I know.

Personally, I've always been disappointed with commercial dogfood.

I have no problem with Skinners Duck and Rice, Pup is on the kid's version, looks amazing and is full of energy. Loads of people wont look at Vitalin but I've fed their Lamb and Rice for 26 years and its suited all the adults without exception. When on offer its the cheapest of the "Lamb and Rice" dog foods.

I personally like skinners, in terms of never having a dog do well on it what do you define as well? I know my springer cross has a soft coat and has had no digestion issues on it, I’ve had her in 1 other brand before and she had the trots big time, switched to working 23 and she was a different dog. I think a few are food snobs and some judge without even trying...
