Where is the distinction between exercising outside with one person from another household and doing that whilst both carrying a gun and working the dogs?

I've just been for a walk around at home with the old lab and the little cocker, on my own I may add! I like the combination of old lab and cocker, the old lab is steady and deliberate, if I take the 3 year old lab out she is flying around the place. It worked well. The old lab flushed a cock bird which I duly missed, and the cocker worked well and stayed fairly close. A nice lunchtime in the sunshine.

No great surprise, I shot with a group of lads on Saturday and we all felt it would probably be our last outing of the season. Just trying to work out if taking exercise with a dog and a gun is exercise or sport!!

As far as I know you can still rough shoot with one other person

They have reconsidered, just got this from GWCT!

Outdoor shooting activities as a form of exercise are now permissible once a day in England during the national lockdown, but only subject to two conditions:

1. You should only travel locally to shoot, which is defined in Government guidance as staying local to the village, town, or part of the city where you live.
2. When shooting you can only meet with people you live with, your support bubble; or when on your own, with one person from another household.

A while back I came across a YouTube video of a lab swimming in the states. It showed a gaiter closing in. Despite encouragement from the onlookers the dog was not fast enough to reach the bank. Your pic MG reminded me of that and how lucky we are here in the UK to have `managed ' our wildlife.

I'm hoping to go out roughshooting a couple of times before the end of the season. The shoot I'm involved in is a mile and a half away, and the shoot captain called to say I could take my son for a wander around. I think I'll take the old dog, nice and steady and doesn't work to far away. It might even be a chance to take the now 1 year old cocker along........I'm unlikely to get the opportunity again to expose her to this environment outside a formal shoot day.

I have just had a chat with the owner of some ground I shoot and I suggested I didn't come again this season although it is reasonably local (4 miles), he sounded relieved, thanked me and said that someone would moan that the estate was still shooting the boundaries in a crisis and would use it to complain about other things! His last words were crack on next season!! I don't pay for it so it felt like the least I could do to secure the future.
If it was a large block of ground with no nearby houses I would have continued to shoot.

It pays to be careful! We have two sides on the shoot, and I'll stick to the one side which doesn't have houses near it or any of the awkward squad - you know, the same people that think nothing of walking through on a shoot day with terriers off the lead but will be the first to complain if we do something they think we shouldn't....
