It never used to kick off until begining of November up there PERCE, I always remember going into the shops in Richmond to buy my Bangers
Then going out on Mischief night (Nov 4th) around where i was dragged up as a nipper
(the Sh#t hole they call Colburn ).
But i have to agree with you, in my 40's now, got my dogs and im not a fan of them. Fireworks should only be used for the big shows by qualified people. Plus it gets earlier each year and they seem to be on sale from now until the new year .
Swaledale lad myself. We weren't that fussed about bonfire night, we just had a mischief week, it usually started at hallowen & got progressively worse. It was the only time we regularly had a copper in the village
I have one dog that goes up the wall despite not being bothered by gunfire.
We now run a pub in one of the least desirable areas of our town (in Dorset) Some years ago fireworks were a massive problem, particularly having a couple of elderly lady hounds who were distraught by them and spent much of the autumn winding each other into the depths of hysteria over the noise.
Nowadays though there seems to be no trouble with fireworks and when I bought a small box for Archies Beaver colony I had to jump through hoops before I was allowed to actually have them. I assumed this was countrywide but apparently not, I firmly believe that if fireworks were readily available here then we would have nightly outbursts in our area.

I smile because I have no idea what is happening.....
My fourteen month old lab heard them last night and when she saw the flashes she came and sat with me with her head on my knee, she got fed-up watching them out of the window so she curled up around my feet and went to sleep.
There was a big firework party next door last night, as well as loads around the place.
Ash doesn't bat an eyelash and has been known to come outside with us while we let some fireworks off, although we have never encouraged that.
Chub just carried on life as normal and went outside at wee times without bothering at all. That said, we have weekly public firework displays all summer long, so all the pups in our litter were routinely subjected to the sights and sounds from the moment they were born!!
We have been very fortunate over the years and have never had a dog who was bothered by fireworks. Long may that continue
I agree though that fireworks should be left as something special on the actual night!!!

Sometimes I wake up grumpy, other days I let him sleep!
Behind every successful man is an astonished woman!
Went to a Display at my work last night, they had spent a lot on the fireworks and some very big loud ones!
A few people brought their dogs with them, one lad had two dogs with him, one was only about six months.
i over heard him talking to the group he was with, saying that they will be fine. Once the display and bangs started, the pup was pulling and whining and not enjoying it at all...within five minutes of the display starting he was scuttling off with he dogs. What a prat!
i left mine at home with the TV on loudish , when i got home there was no sign of them trashing the place to get behind the sofa or behind the TV.
