Yep, purple spray used mainly on sheep, but works a treat on labradors and cockers :)
Terramycin is a blue spray and as Rookie mentioned it is a POM (Prescription Only Medicine), we must just have a nice vet!!!

The purple stuff isn't supposed to be as good as the blue...or so I've been told. Don't think the purple stuff is POM though.

Hi BM,

I've made this topic a sticky I think its better than hiding it away in the reference section.

Here's whats in mine

Vetrap Bandaging Tape
Wide open weave bandage
Melolin Wound Dressing
Cotton Wool
Sterile Saline Pods
Alchol free wound cleansing wipes
Antiseptic wound spray
Disposable gloves
Tick Remover
Scissors
Splinter Forceps
Glucose Tablets
Space blanket foil

Most of the above I obtained through my vet, I asked him a long while ago what he would like handy if he was going to treat a dog in the field and he made me up a list. I check it and update stuff at the beginning of the shooting season and as stuff is used. I also carry with me some wire cutters in the bottom of my game bag for the dreaded barbed wire.

But wouldn't any decent anti-septic potion do as well?

I mean, it won't remove the need for stitches (if required), so any savings in vets bills would just be when you have managed to stop a scrape becoming infected? - most anti-septics would do this, wouldn't they?

I'm not being argumentative, just trying to understand more. :-D

Cheers, Terry

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I will be stocking up some essentials from my vet. I particularly like the stretcher idea. Not something I had ever thought of but very useful for an emergency.

For most dogs a shooting jacket or coat would work as a stretcher.
