Re: random rant
P.S. … After several years of having the mobile phone my family wanted me to always carry with me I at last managed to lose it somewhere. My feeling of pleasure about this was short lived though as my family now want me to actually buy another one myself.

Re: random rant
Whilst we are on the subject of mobile phones this is one for my whole extended family who have to phone me with the question "where is she?"
Why oh why oh why can my wife, who insists on having a very up to date model that does everything, not get the basic concept of the mobile phone - it is f*****g mobile so you can take it with you and if someone needs to talk to you urgently they can get hold of you, not call it and hear it ringing in the kitchen yet again where she put it down on her way out presumably multi tasking at that point and then have to phone me!!!!!!

LITTER
!!! Is it me ? Or since the lockdown there seems to be an increase of people leaving litter in the fields and woods? What is it, have these idiots filled up their houses and gardens with their trash that they now feel the need to spread it on the wider world? Environmentally friendly generation my arse! Selfish up their own arses generation is a more appropriate title. The local councils are missing a trick, there is clearly demand for people to spend their evenings sitting amongst garbage. They need to make maximum use of their facilities and open up the recycling centres overnight so those with a preference for sitting amongst their own bottles, crisp packets beer cans and disposable barbeques can enjoy themselves without inflicting their standards on the rest of us.....socially distancing of course ( although I expect the smell will do that anyway )
While I'm at it
Anyone else noticed that the standard of driving seems to have dropped with the lack of practice? This week I have witnessed three very close near misses, one involving me, when a van did not seem to notice that there were `give way' markings to the road he was joining, which I was tootling along. The speed he was travelling I thought it prudent in that instance not to enforce my right of way. One of the other instances involved a near T-boning of a `I'm driving a Jag' man who decided that he could make it across the roundabout even though another car was well on its way. I'm not sure the look on that drivers face was shock or disbelief. He was clearly spouting the Lords Prayer as he passed me
One more thing ( Do you get the feeling I've had a hard week?
) This is not really a rant, but I can't be bothered to open another thread
I received the new `certificate' back yesterday. Over looking the nine weeks
But looking at the Chief Constables signature ....well, I have to say I thought my handwriting is bad, but his signature is the worst signature I have ever encountered, official and otherwise in all my years. I can only describe it as an X scribbled out ... it does not look `official' at all! After all the hoops you have to jump through to get the application in, especially during the lockdown, a decent 10 sec legible signature isn't much to ask. Not asking for calligraphy here, but some resemblance of a name not an X marks the spot scribbled out

Re: random rant
Totally agree.. except the sig bit....you aint seen mine
my handwriting is that bad even i cant read it sometimes and that is fact not humour
while we are on the subject of rants and writing i used to have teachers hovering over me telling me how rubbish i was at calligraphy (and most other things related to academia) as a result i cannot abide anyone watching me writing
Muddling along in the hope that one day it starts to make sense.

Re: random rant
Some good rants there Munsty ! Yesterday I drove my wife a few miles to a lovely little place where our local canal goes over a rather beautiful big aqueduct built in 1822. A river goes under the aqueduct and both the canal and the river are lined with lovely old trees and wildflowers grow among them ……. along with empty beer cans, plastic bottles, plastic bags and any other unwanted shite that folk have in their cars !
It made both of us very angry to see all the rubbish .....until my cocker Charlie diverted our attention by leaping headlong from the canal bank in order to catch himself a duck ! For the past week or so I have had a very sore back and didn't fancy lying down at the edge of the canal to reach down to scruff wee Charlie back up and out of the canal but I had to do it.
My wife is just out of hospital following an exploratory cancer operation ….there was no way she could bend to lift Charlie out.
Dogs like Charlie either keep you young or they kill you !
I agree about the driving standards too. I think folk have just got so used to seeing little or no traffic on the roads that they think they can drive on any side of the road at any speed they like. I heard one of my little towns local yokels got caught doing 122 M.P.H. along a road that has a 50 limit on it. :roll

Gotta love Charlie, we all miss his little "exploits".

Re: random rant
I have felt exactly the same about litter, if all those taking "exercise", many of whom don't look as if they took much before lockdown, took a bin bag and picked a few bits up the whole country would be litter free by now.munstyman wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2020 10:13 am LITTER!!! Re: random rant
And the dog's s**t too. I have to wonder whether some of those dogs were ever walked before too.
Have to say I've been ultra careful since getting back into the car, my speed / distance judgement is out of practise after 8 weeks away from driving. T'would seem everyone else's is too.
