West Country, Elite to me is someone who has sponsorship due to past performances and do it as a living. You could classify trainers who train and handle for others in same boat. I work a fulltime job like the majority of FT goers. I would say being elite is supplying services and getting paid for something they are good at. For me I do not train or keep other people's dogs. If I did I feel it would be a job and I do not know if I would be as happy doing it.
Can anyone with commitment and dedication train a dog the same as the elite, yes they can.

Yes it would Judy. Do we as trialers see ourselves as elite? No certainly not . Some chose not to trial but have very well trained dogs that do a good job.
I pick up on many shoots and beat on others. I have a diverse team of dogs for different tasks. I enjoy working them all. Thats what its all about isnt it?
