I saw Rackatear a few times, I'm not sure if anyone else on here did, he was a average /small chocolate dog with a white Blaze, he could be running today and would not draw any undue attention, he was before micro chips and easily accessible DNA tests, but the pedigree tells anyone that "officially" they had no input. I knew the dams breeding, I can vouch for that, the "on paper" sire was bred by one of the most experienced, knowable cocker Men there's been, a real gentleman of the sport, other than that.......it's anybody guess!!!!

THIS SHOULD NOT BE ABOUT ONE MAN OR ONE DOG.
It should be for the future integrity of the breed. Look to the future not the past. You have no control of the past. But you have the opportunity to improve the future.

Alpha are you saying I line breed to Racketeer, Druid and Dealer and brag about it?

You seem to quote my affix in those listed as doing so or have I misread it?

WHEN at any point did I say people where line breeding all I said was that people have used mallow dale / openshaw stuff in their lines including yours Larford et al......

AND the pet market, hobbyist, etc brag about it.
Christ how many ads do you see that say 102 FTCHs lalalala with (add which ever popular stud)

I don't for one minute think most trialers would need to brag about their lines as most buyers are complete anoraks and know which way bred everything that they may be interested in

But wasnt your G litter X factor on the sire side ...By way of the Chyknell Osprey sire so you have Mallowdale in these lines...? Its not a criticism just a fact that the Samsir Going For Gold etc where X factor G pups

My post is still there David. You just have to look at "Visitor Post" at the top of the credible Cocker page to see it

I can't even find "Visitor Post" via my phone. I can't see Julie Ashurst's post which I could see before Christmas.

And all this nonsense is exactly the kind of shyte that removes sensible folk from the pool of knowledge in breeding good dogs. This blinkered and arrogant view on what is best for everybody is exactly why many stay on the fringes and much is lost. Only the breed will suffer.

Infighting.

Nobody has the monopoly on common sense or the magic formula to breed the next wonderdog.

Thanks for the reply, but my post asked a question, it wasn't a statement.

NOT ONLY THE trialling stuff you see advertised brag of Openshaw breeding but also all the hobby pet breeders

Fernmoss, Larford ,Cheweky, Gannofell, Cowancourt, Wyndhill, Chyfina, Esgob, Bishwell, Nithvalley, Kingcott, Saxaphone, Broomfiel, Larford. Hoelbych, Rowston, Contrail, Kiltonbeck, Samsir, Sealpin and Roanlodge to name but a few bitches have all been lined with Druid Rakateer and Dealer so you only have to look at a general over view that his kennels are in lots of lines out there
Perhaps I'm misreading but it clearly says brag?

Yes you're right I did once use Chyknell Osprey as I owned the dog at the time, one of the most handsome dogs I've ever seen.

My old bitch is a a granddaughter of Goldstar on the dam side. She's sired by Barlow.

But you will see that when it comes to studs I have only used Rowston, Timsgarry, Poolgreen, Orgest Yfwr, Measydderwen Largord, Priorsmeadow and Boots on my bitches, with the one exception you've pointed out. I've generally found these produce the stamp of dog I personally like, shorter in the back and more compact than the Mallowdale dogs that can be bigger and longer in the back.

As Ian said to me recently if you put a long back bitch to a long back dog you'll get long back pups. That's what he prefers. I prefer short back close coupled. Each to their own.

I guess someone who openly prefers Springers will gravitate towards any Cocker thats Springery in looks and / or action.
