Have enjoyed this thread immensely, all of our Field Champs were Druid, G Sons or great Grand daughters.
The sire and Grandsire of our dogs was FC Bricksclose Matchwood, Badger. as I recall Badger was purchased as a young dog directly from Peter Moxley by a man in Texas. a Mr Parks. Badger sire was Druid. I believe Mark Hairfield here in the states may have Badger semen in storage. Oh what joy Alex and and Smoke and Blaze brought my wife and I.
As a conversation point. How would a Druid/ Buccluegh breeding work out? we currently have an very exciting Buccluegh bitch, Zeta out of Buccluegh Thistle. Due to office being tore up and in disarray I do not have pedigrees handy.

Just been re-reading this thread, not sure if there are that many people of a vintage that can remember pups in the shooting times, when there could be 30 litters of pups advertised, being sold as "Druid Free" I can!!! Anyone who knew Peter or people he trained/shot with will tell you Druid was a sod!!!!! Hard going/fast? oh yes, but he was noisy! When pigeons were dizzied and hid for him he find them and stand back and bark at them!!! I thought this was fairly common knowledge. He certainly past this trait on, his championship winning sons, Cortman Garry & Lane had noise, Garry was sold to the states and Lane was sold to Earlanson, despite what it says in his book, because it was put out for making a noise, I, and mates had pups by both lane and Garry, 8 out of 10 made a noise!! Usually when that crossed in front of you "woof"!! But bloody hell the good ones were good!!! Getting back as far as you can won't be a "magic wand" we need to be careful what we wish for sometimes, I will now go and fill in my pension book!

My first dog, Buster was a Druid Grandson. He was fabulous! He was an elderly gentleman when this photo was taken.

Brilliant, nobody can go running to tell anyone, or throw their toys out of the pram because something awful has been said because the dog is dead and studs and money isn't at steak....interesting post

Yes, good post from Dawnrazer.
He might also remember that Druid had close ties to Hales Smut & Burnhatch Soda, both of which attracted similar adverts - Smut & Soda free. So Druid's heritage was already there.

Now where do I get these pension forms.

Didn't Hales Smuts offspring have retreiving issues also?
A good friend who Keith took under his wing expressed to me how every pup he had from Smut had to be taken back to Keith to get retrieving.
