Rothievale wrote:Well done everyone, a hot and tiring day. Really felt for you Robert because when you cast your dog off i thought, here we go! But as soon as he clocked Graeme had dummies that was it, he was going watch him like a hawk! Really frustrating for you but that's tests for you and I'm sure he'll still make a good dog on game/trials.

Just pipped at the post Will, a good achievement though for such a young dog. I can't believe you're selling him after all the work you've put into him!
That's fine Helen!
The judge holding a dummy in his hand would be ok for a test!,and as Will say's taking the dog out for rabbits is another thing!
...............
I do hope those that plan and prepare for whatever they do? take note of the things there dog does or doesn't do ?.so they can train for it!....
For me ?...that is what 'tests' are for?!!..
I am sorry Will is selling his dog  ,we will never know how well he would have done in trials 'with him'! :
I am keeping Scott! ;)

I'm sure he will be fine once he gets on scent and learns to get his nose on the ground and hunt, he will soon enter the cover them I'm sure. ;) I'm glad you've had a rethink and are now travelling to tests, no excuses not to trial now

It's not a 're-think' Will! ;)
Mere economics mate :brickwall: ..Moy for me today was a 5am start at the kennels ,with two young 10 week old pups, that I had to arraange cover with the missus who is on night shift tonight
£50 worth of diesel', and expenses to cover your 'pies' ...
That would be a 'red day' for me on the balance books?...
We ain't all millionare's like you
And I ain't about to be making up any numbers for a 'game fair'!?...All be it very enjoyable and sociable,to meet up with good people.
..........................
Another consideration for those that wish to progress in the sport?
.............................
A field trial could cost you well over £100 with entry fees ,annual club fees, fuel and or expenses, let alone 'potential lost revenue' as you know Will ,especially geographically in Scotland!,and a two day open ?....well...The credit card would have to be used/...for some

my mother used to say "good packages come in small sizes''?
She was 4ft 11 1/2 "!.........We said she was 5ft!...?
But Nah!...she became a very prominent Trade unionist ,and eventually made her mark in 'Industrial Tribunal' negotiator.

I'd have liked to have gone to that test but my jalopy was getting it's guts ripped apart at the garage. Maybe next year !

I've only been in one test this year and got a second in Novice with Dixie the springer. It 's time I brought on a new dog or two and had another bash at tests ......one of these days I'll beat Eddie Scott !  I'll take some pies with me.

Hiya, I was at Moy on Friday too. What a day, roasting hot. Eight hours in the Aigles, I thought they were welded to me feet. Some good cockers to be seen and a lot of good dog work. Very enjoyable. I was over with Brian Lyall off the Badanloch estate, and really enjoyed it. Also caught my first sea trout and salmon on the fly earlier in the week!   Aint Scotland brilliant???? Back home now :( Roll on next year....
