I would have thought that the idea put forward from Amberquest would be better if the partition board turned through 90 deg to allow the dog access without having to turn its body sharply. Hope that makes sense? I have to do something like this myself before new pup arrives as my sleeping quarters are very similar. Still in doubt as to bedding material though!

Not too sure about my idea now but i have put a photo on...hope you can understand it...please comment on it, your advice is very welcome....
I wanted to put a false roof on if you like...as i think this will keep the heat in (all the walls have cavity insulation so im hoping it'll be quite warm...
The false roof will be made by fixing a frame all the way round the shed just...it will be in too parts which are hinged, in summer the side above the bob hole can be fastened up permanently allowing the dog to go under the false roof in its bed or on top of the false roof which can have a mat fitted to it to it for a day bed... The side with the main door is hinged also for access for myself the the dogs bed....
Open to your thoughts...good or bad.. :-D

Coneking, I too am thinking along your lines. I was thinking of a draught board running along the line under where the hinge occurs, thus forming a solid base for the day bed. Hope that makes sense?

Can I ask is the kennel roof insulated in my kennels from timber build the Walls are insulted and lined but not the roof , the reason being it would make the kennels too warm in summer . I had planned to put a deep layer of tea bag bedding in but the idea of a sleeping box has got me thinking other wise

Yeah the roof is also insulated....but i think if it go really warm in winter (if only :-D ) i would leave the door open and allow the dog to sleep on top of the box if it wanted....what is tea bag bedding...?

. Tea bag bedding is shredded strips of the paper used to make tea bags . It comes in 20 kilo bales .
