They were K.C. Panel judges. That was nearly 25 years ago and I don't remember who they were. Reporting a mere opinion is no good. Facts need to be presented ....preferably with witnesses close enough to corroborate that what you say is fact. I was ready to do that when one of the judges wanted to eliminate my dog for hard mouth. The other handlers who were, I felt, unjustly eliminated did nothing about it so neither could I unless they were willing to complain.
Very few trial handlers want to "rock the boat."

Dogs should not be eliminated from a trial for a downwind bump, unless there is no stop to acknowledge the bump. Ignoring a bumped bird is a no no.

Not exclusively downwind but she chnages her beat according to the wind direction and my position. I think there are fair examples of downwind and sidewind patterns.

Lee. That dog is running around in circles? Is the wind changing a lot?

In reply to the above, I return to what I said on the first page of this thread.
trekmoor wrote: Most dogs seem to treat tailwinds by working in a series of interconnecting loops back towards their handlers. In more recent years I have made no real efforts to change that since it seems to work well enough and is accomplished without much interference from me.

I find that I can continuously walk forward as a dog hunts in a loop pattern after it has covered the very first area of ground with it's nose. My pace when walking forward is adjusted as I go to suit the terrain and the dogs speed.

I think you can see a downwind pattern there well a few times. It is a bit confusing due to your position changing constantly but good example I think. Very cool.

Thank you,
The area is difficult because the rushes are patched across the field but always hold a view snipe. That day was very windy and she did the best she could with the conditions and working according to me changing direction.
