whimper while sitting
Re: whimper while sitting
Thanks again I believe I allowed this impatience creep in by allowing the dog get its own way doing everything it expected in training mainly hunt . I'm feeling positive he will be fine but it's a long road ahead

Good job snipe. I certainly wouldn't give up on him over a whimper. Lots of dogs out there with any amount of go will whimper from time to time - they know the game and are ready to work!

Lovely to read, keep up the good work. Mostly training is two step forward, one step back etc, good when it's nice progress with issues you have worried about.

Some dogs, will no matter what you try may well revert to the aforementioned problem, when a certain trigger may actuate the noise, even Whe you think it's a non issue. And dogs do become trial wise and know what the game is, that could be the trigger. I know of a dog, who whilst training, shooting and all the activities you mention is mute. However on a trial day, will whine like a beast......
Re: whimper while sitting
Thanks Jenny im aware this may well return and possibly with a vengance .I'm also aware he was very young and had not been properly conditioned to the situation . I've had him in mock trial situations and he has been fine but like you say it could be that extra tension on a trial day that sets him off he will make a nice shooting dog regardless and I've already began to train another trial prospect so he's worth the gamble. I will bring him to as many tests as possible before next season and hopefully put the building blocks in place . If it's a failure then I'll use him as a rough shooting dog he can replace his mammy .
