Trouble is other people can't see what lines are cleat hey register pupsr and what carriers / affected which make the whole thing rather pointless. As for not sharing because "other people wont bother putting their hands in their pockets" there's a simple answer, they can't use your tested stud dog unless the bitch is tested and nor can they register pups from your dogs because you put breeding restrictions on. Surely the big picture is the important thing with breeding stock? We all want healthy dogs which work well and look like the breed they are supposed to be.
In life, it is important to know when to stop arguing with people and simply let them be wrong.

I would have thought it was responsible breeding practice but the gundog scene would appear to be very much dog eat dog these days.

I don't want people to use my dogs just because its tested clear. I don't earn a living from them and never will, people that research dogs and make a breeding plan based on lines and ability will know my dogs are tested and the results because I put them on the website. I don't advertise them anywhere else. When I breed all the pups go with with details of what tests have been done. I'm long passed wanting help strangers who just want to make a few ££ by having an easy litter and don't even keep a pup back from it. I've learnt most in the gun dog world are just about what they can take, I have know interest in that.

If it was easy it wouldn't be so much fun.

I can sympathise with that, James, unfortunately its fast becoming a "me, me" world, not just with gun dogs. Sad really.
