Really helpful videos - clear and unrushed. Got a lot of useful advice from these, many thanks & well done.

Just watched the great vids, yes made to look easy, wish I`d have watched them before I`d started to train my dog
It`s all well and good that these dogs have received the basic training that makes the rest easier, hows about when it`s playing up and then show us how it`s done!

Thanks Blackdog. We decided upon the topics or the videos and tried to pick dogs that Kevin had at different stages of training to best demonstrate the relavent training in action, as you say each had already had basic training and the dogs would not have moved onto these areas had they not received this. We wanted to be careful not to detract from the tuition we were trying to provide by delving off into other subjects mid tuition.

We may well produce some more videos in the furture showing the very basic training and this would no doubt include "playing up" and how to deal with it.

I hope this helps ?

I would doubt such an experienced trainer as this would have a dog playing up. Managed environment, good handling, structured training and knowing exactly what he is trying to achieve does away with allowing the dog to bugger about.

only watched the directional one so far, but thought it was great, clear presentation and of course faultless dogs! I would buy these - but as others have said, including a section on overcoming common problems would be very useful.

The trouble with this is every dog is different so what is a common problem to you is not to someone else. They aren’t faultless dogs BTW they are dogs that have been well trained and each and every one of them will have presented their own issues I suspect. ;)

Trying to cover the myriad of problems people encounter would be incredibly difficult, it might help if members actually put what they would like to see covered. IMHO this is why videos however helpful as a guide will not replace the need for 1-2-1 training with a good gundog trainer or even kicking around your problem on here.

Just my thoughts.....

Edited to add:- I in no way mean that as a criticism of the Vids put up at the beginning of the thread I thought they were excellent.

I totally agree.

Explaining a view or a technique is much easier on video than it is on a forum. However a video can only give one view where as a forum can give a consensus of views.

My personal view is that forums and videos have their strengths and weaknesses especially when used together but I don't think either will come close to replacing 1-2-1 training with a good trainer.

If members wish to suggest a list of possible issues, problems, tips required etc then we would try to cover as many of these as possible should we shoot more videos.
