Me too! My dog woke up and shot out of her bed to me.. and I'm in France... even further away! Wow you are impressive, Polmaise! :-)

Just to say I really enjoy watching these videos, so thank you for putting them up. Far from being boring (to me), they illustrate a process and show me how quick it can be. I watched your "body language " one yesterday, and realized where I had been going wrong... tried it this morning, and....voila! Much improvement. That, combined with using a wider range of motivators (swimming this morning, which she loves).... and we are making much better progress.

BASC Scotland ,Gundog training day at Dunkeld today, the weather was brilliant.
I was assisted by 'GraemeGsp' on here, thanks for his help , and fitness reloading the bumper boy, and bolting rabbit

A mixture of 10 gundogs from GWP/Spinone/cocker/Labrador/ and a funny looking spaniel
The owners were just as mixed with 2 vets, a joiner, Fish processor, accountant , and a few that were reluctant to commit

The superb facilities at BASC Scotland mede the day comfortable for both dogs and handlers, and I hope something they will encourage.
This group are not interested in competition tests or trials ,primarily! but more a competent gundog in the field for which they pursuit,
But the process is the same.
I saw a fantastic wee black cocker bitch at only 7 months old out of Sealpin' , and in the right hands and with careful nurture will be a formiddable wee dog.

All the dogs and handlers had an 'enlightened' day I am sure  ...
I enjoyed it immensely ,seeing some more different dogs and handlers with an obvious love for the sport ,the breeds, and the desire to learn.
BASC Scotland have an active website update, and facebook page. I am sure they will organise more Gundog activities .

Next weekend ,is Demonstration day  ...at Charity fair...better start training my own dogs

Training, de-training , Re-Training !?
For some this may be boring , but for this dog, it is still part of the process', of the end product.
Retreiving??? ..nah..it's just recall and heel work, with a little correction and lots of affection, timely put ,so the dog understands , without being 'trained' ;)
This dog remember is a guarder/dominant/agressive/,bog off, with a previous, Feck you jack

As a handler, its impossible to make your dog perform better than it is, but very easy to make it perform far worse.

I'm impressed Polmaise :) in the right hands and with the right trainer Weims make excellent working dogs they get such a raw deal with their not so perfect reputation  Loved the tail wagging arse wiggle she is focused on you most of the time but she couldn't resist a bit air scenting at the end  Amber looks much better for losing a bit of weight it's a shame she's not going to be worked she's lovely

The first thing I done was not feed it for the first day! :o  ...not that she wanted it anyway?
The second day she was on raw tripe (for the very first time in her life!) ,this is a pet dog remember ;) ...the amount was about half what my spaniels get!
This got rid of the crap (high protein kibble) that was inside her.
She was excercised free running with the spaniels in the enclosed area 6 times a day..when I say free running, I mean play time with a ball, I throw for the spanners, which they know its play, so no steadiness! just a game of who is quickest gets it! .......She never did! ! but her natural instincts made her keep trying
After a week, she was losing the 'loose fat', and using the 'stored' energy ;) ,now turning to muscle ;) ...Surprisingly her stools were less! (according to the owner she dumps four times a day!) , now she was going 'Once'!..Having being kenneled in the 'indoor block'! , instead of being in her centrally heated thermostatically controlled timer 'House', she had to condition and control her own heat source?...so that burned off quite alot!
After 7 days she had a waggier tail, and looked forward to 'doing something' 8-)
I have a few 'humans' that call it Polmaise Penitentiary' ..The dogs think it's 'Heaven'

Well the lovely Amber has certainly come on leaps and bounds I loved the first vid she kept looking back checking with you, it was really great to see her looking happy her whole body language and demur is very different to 8 days ago

The second vid she looked like she was actually smiling :) she also kepted checking back with you so she has taken on board her training 8-) I think she could still lose a tad more weight though  but just a smigeon ;)

I have found that a weim will cover more distance but a cocker or springer will cover more ground

 Amber gets collected on Sunday! I wonder what they will think of their dog when they collect it?
They have been sent the full film footage from day one. ;)

Amber came here from a recomendation from Radar's Owner, She was 'tagged' as the 'Demon Dog'!....Radar's owners last words to me were " I wish you luck with this one"!

Wullie and his mate 'scarpered ' sharply on the day of her arrival? :? ...they had some other pressing appointment
I must admit, I wasn't looking forward to a Weimeraner, with baggage, and I think I said ,we were not the best of mates ,as the 'Focus', Was clearly going to take some different handling.

I must say though, that over the last two weeks She has shown her true colours, and become a dog that is /wants to work and be with you!
In fact I may have overdone it slightly, as I cant get the bugger to go further than 20 feet from me

Anyway, she goes in a couple of days, and I will be persuading the owners to have some time with Radar,He gets on with every one and every thing ;)
